The Golden Immigrant brought back, for me personally who migrated as a young immigrant to Canada, all the family emotions of leaving behind your well ingrained family and departing to a faraway land of opportunities in quest for a "better and prosperous life" for the betterment of the whole family. This book, very intriguingly, brings home the fears of the unknown, integration challenges and personal life unpredictable surprises that each immigrant faces in their own unique path that their destiny leads them through. A well written personalised story that immigrants from all walks of life will relate to, in some form or another, and, undoubtedly, will enjoy reading it. Well done, Ashok!"

The plot described in the novel “Golden Immigrant “ by Ashok Malhotra very nicely describes the experience immigrants go through after arriving in their adopted country with tons of challenges and opportunities. The focus in the story is on Raj the Golden Immigrant whose life goes through many twists and turns but with a Happy ending. The novel is definitely a joy to read

The Golden Immigrant is Ashok Malhotra's best book so far! A compelling saga of the twists and turns of an optimistic immigrant to Canada in the 1960s at a time when anything was possible. The book is a real page turner that you won't want to put down as the universe unfolds for Raj and his family. Looking forward to the next book.

This is a brilliantly crafted story of each and every immigrant who came to North America in the sixties or early seventies in search of a better future. I have personally waited for this one for over two years ever since I learnt that the author is embarking to write his next volume on this exciting subject. I can easily relate with all incidents, dialogues, situations and characters contained in this work of fiction.. I came to the academic world of the United States in 1962 with "eight dollars" and" pregnant wife" uncoiling the hopes, fears, aspirations, triumphs and sorrows but with strong urge to adapt to the American culture and in the process to accumulate a little wealth. This is indeed a great addition to the two other novels by this author-The Golden Sparrow and Echoes From Far.

I am of Euro-Christian background and I thought that immigrating to Canada was a tough experience. This book made me realize how easy I had it compared with the people coming from different cultures! The book is full of surprises, humor, sadness and joy, reflecting our common struggle to adjust. It is not relevant only to new Canadians, but also to the born ones, to open their eyes and help them understand what do newcomers really go through. I laughed out loud reading the episodes about opening of the milk packages in a restaurant, or learning how to interact with girls.
